Has anyone travelled to Thailand (Ko Samui or surronding areas even Bangkok) during August? I want to travel for the whole month but am put off by "the thunderstorm season" approaching in October. Can anyone tell me their experiences of weather there in August? Thanx.
I was in Thailand Ko Pha Ngan during August some years ago - it rained every day... sometimes all day. I left there and went to Bangkok in September... where it was also raining.
august is end of summer and september beggining of rainy season/winter.
best option if you want islands is go to koh samed / koh chang further north. koh samed is one of the driest islands. not like england where it rains on or off though. it will rain hard for few hours then stop for the day.
Hi there
I'm a UK citizen who lives in Thailand. Most days now we get rain for just a short period, if at all. Some heavier rain is likely next month. Try to come in December or January, it won't be so hot (only around 25 degrees then, down to 21 at night) and no rain.
Hope that helps
Well, I was looking to go in November and apparently it rains tonnes in Ko Samuhi then so I'm guessing it can't rain all year round. My friend says who spent a year there that it's just very different depending on which side of Thailand you're on. Buy a Lonely PLanet book.
Hello!
I came back from Thailand about a week ago having been to Ko Samui and Bangkok. Yes, it did rain, prob about once every day, but its still really warm and the rain onlylasted for an hour or so! I would go back again during August!!!
