I have a 4 hour stop over in JFK on route to Ireland from Orlando. I presume travelling into Manhatton is not a possibility due to the time available. Is there any thing worth seeing in the ares outside of the Airport.

Don't make any plans as you may have to clear immigration and customs between flights and it will take that long believe me!
apricot's right.
Well, I don't think apricot is right; Jeremiah is leaving the US, not entering it, so will not have to go through immigration or customs. However I agree that 4 hours is not long enough to plan on doing anything. Assuming the inbound plane arrive on time, you need to deplane that - say 20 minutes, boarding the new flight will start, say 60 minutes before departure, so now you have only 2h40m. You'll probably have to travel to a different terminal to get the international flight and you'll have to line up to take your shoes off again for the friendly TSA security people. So you may just have time to get a drink in the airport.
I live there, you could do it, but you are risking a lot. It takes 25 mins to get to Man from JFK with NO traffic. It tould take you as much as 3 hours to get back. Your risk.
