When I go to France for 4 days i will only have 5 months left on my passport, will this be enough or should i apply for a new one?

It will be quite sufficient - passports are valid up to and including their expiry date, so as long as you are not travelling for four days, with a passport that expires in three, no problem, and probably even then, they'd let you back into the country. Enjoy your trip.

It's OK for somewhere like France but you do have to be careful of some of the more unusual destinations where they like you to have at least 6 months or so left for some reason.
