Hi, i am visiting Canada in May on Business and it is extremly important that i go, My work know i have a drink driving conviction and have asked to check i will be 100% able to get into the country. I have looked on their website and it looks as if i may have to write a letter to the high commission for criminal rehabilitation which could take longer than a year. I was convicted of Drink Driving last feb and get my license back in May. Has anyone got any advice? Has anyone been in this situation before? I would REALLY appreciate any help with this. Thank-you!!!!

You are not legally able to enter Canada with a recent drunk driving conviction - rehabilitation takes rather longer than instantaneously. Quite a few years before they will even consider it.

However , if you are entering on a UK passport, it's not a question they ask visitors, and they won't have access to UK records - so you will be OK.

If you are entering with a US passport then from what I've heard they will probably know without asking and turn you away. (That is if your conviction was in the US)
