USA Visa Trouble

I applied for a USA Visa in 2006 the same year when i was convicted for fraud i didnt go to prison i got a fine and community service the visa was refused because not enough time had passed. I have a stamp in my passport which says usa visa application received. Should i apply for another visa this year? or take the chance and travel without 1(i have a wedding in the usa) or will they know that i was refused a visa in 2006?

your passport records the fact that you have applied for visa. The US immigration officer will see this and will want to know why visa not granted. This could result in you not being allowed entry
I believe there is a time limit on offences being countable.
Far better to approach the USA embassy in this country
for their comments on this matter.
Since 9/11 the American authorities have become very very
unyielding in such matters.

They've got your records. The thresholds for starting to give you something of a break are five, and then ten years etc. They're in no hurry...

It can be up to 15 years before you are entirely in the clear - I don't think you will get a visa after 2. You can always try.

The chances of being picked up if you attempt the visa waiver route are quite high - the stamp in the passport will see to that. And there will be two lies on the form - saying you have no criminal record and saying you have never been refused a US visa. So bang go future visas.

You are going to have to miss that wedding - hope it's not your own......

thanks for your replys, im just curious to peoples views and i wont be ignoring an answers! im gutted with the whole thing likely its not my wedding!!!, im guessing the stamp tells them i applied for the visa what if i was to get a new passport? but really im screwed either way? I don't think the stamp in your passport is what matters, the fact is that they have all your details in their system 'IBIS'.
