How can I do an online comparison of pound - euro exchange rates of UK high street bureaux de change versus cash machines abroad?

will tell you the base rate that the cash machines use. Then just add charges as applicable

Nearly all the High Street outlets load the exchange rate by approx 5%.

I use a 'FairFX' card when travelling in Europe, it gives a rate of about 2cents less than current market rates.
