usually change my money before I go but the way the euro is just now I was wondering if I'd be better just taking out money from a cash machine when I get there or would it not make any difference?

If you go and open a Nationwide account, you can withdraw cash from an ATM with no charges. They are the only UK 'bank' that does this, though I think the Post Office does as well.

Thanks sddsddean : )
trouble is with the Nationwide tho - to open an account like this you have to transfer all your existing standing orders etc into the new account and have your wages paid in there etc, i didnt do it cos of the hassle factor.

i changed money over at the post office, there rates were good anyway

your bank will prob charge for withdrawing cash, either a percentage or flat rate, whichever is higer
I didn't. I just opened a Flexaccount (which is managed online, so you get a higher interest rate) and just have a couple of hundred quid in it. Just transfer more in when it gets a bit low or prior to going off on hols.
If you don't have a Nationwide card costs vary - but will at worst be no worse than getting cash at the PO and could be a bit better.
