Australia with kids

We are going to Australia in December for two weeks with two boys (6yrs and 11yrs) - where are the "must see" spots?

Oz is a big place. Give us a clue where you are going.

We are flying into Sydney (and we have friends in Crunella). We'd like to maybe take one or two short trips (either drive or fly) outside of the Sydney area.

You will have a wonderful trip , there will be lots in Sydney itself for you and your boys , such as the Harbour Bridge and Rocks area , the Opera House , the beaches , from Bondi round to Coogee , and on to Bronte . If you catch the ferry across the harbour to Taronga Park Zoo , and a ferry to Manly is where there's a Seaworld , though they also have a good one in Sydney near the rocks now. If you are thinking of going further afield , you could do a day to Canberra and check out the Parliament and the Embassies , or you could do a day at the famous Blue Mountains . xxxxx

There are Koala sancturies too and picnic areas just on the outskirts of the city .

We had 3 days in Sydney last year and needed 3 weeks!! Things to do include Sydney Harbour Bridge climb (but I think 6 is under their limit) so you could climb the south abutment (called the pylon) which also has great views. Ferries leave Circular Quay to nearly everywhere of interest including Manly beach (good day out) and the Zoo (get the cable car to the top of the zoo and work back down to the ferry pier...easier on the legs!). Do a harbour cruise if you can. Darling Harbour is a great area for meals from breakfast to dinner and also has the Aquarium and Maritime Museum. Go up the Skytower (we had dinner in the revolving restaurant...in the middle of a storm!). Take a trip to Featherdale Wildlife Park and walk among roos, then on to the Blue Mountains (which is actually a canyon, but who cares!). Have a walk round the Opera House and Gardens. There is so much to do, you won't be bored. Oh, and try roast kangaroo. Its delicious!!

I was ther e a couple of years ago and overheard a family of Americans when looking at the blue haze, saying big deal we could see this on the internet !!! no wonder the USA is in the state its in !!!!
