One way would be to send the money from a UK bank account to another account in Euroland and have your bank convert it for you. That way you pay a flat fee rather than a percentage. I'd compare this to the exchange rate/euro value you'd get by trying to convert it in the normal way. The transfer by the bank, above, is called a "Telegraphic Transfer".
