When going abroad ,is it recomended to use your address on luggage labels , for the return information .

I seem to recall someone telling me to use a different address - for example , my work address.

What do other ABER's do

Hi Bazile,

I always write the return address on the label just before starting the return journey for obvious security reasons. If you write it any earlier then someone may note that your home is unoccupied. I suggest you only fill out that part of the label on the night before you travel home.

I also put my home address and phone number + mobile number on an A4 sheet of paper inside each case just in case it goes astray and the airline want to return it later.

Hope that helps.
Never Ever put your home address on your luggage labels. There was a case a few years back at Heathrow where a checkin agent would take note of the address on the suitcases, pass this on to her friends who would then rob the house knowing you were safely away on holiday! Just put your phone number.
As auntiebertie said never put your address on the label. I just put flight number, surname and town.
another tip to follow on to Andyvons tip though it might sound a bit daft take a picture of your suitcases nd carry itin your hand luggage so if (fingers crossed it doesnt) your suitcase is lost you have proof of what it looks like. and yes dont put home address on luggage labels until on route home.

Thanks folks , for your advices
Bazile, Having spent many years looking for lost airline luggage, what helped most returning lost bags to their owners was having a name, the destination address, exact flight details, a cell fone number including country code and an email address on the name tag. As someone else mentioned putting the same info inside your case is also a good move. Baggage destination tags come off from time to time and name tags also go west, so the last resort is to open the bag and hope it has the owners details inside. You would not believe how many lost bags are never returned to their owners.
