I was asking friends about that who have been to Dublin. All say that they took passports. I have a passport, my girl friend doesn't. I am going in to town today to ask a travel agent if current photo ID will be OK.
Hi there. Legally you don't need a passport to fly from UK to Ireland. However, all airlines will insist on official photographic ID so a passport is a good way of providing this. Also, some pubs/clubs in Dublin will only accept a passport or driving licence for ID if you want to have a drink so I would bring it anyway.
You need a Passport to travel with Ryanair, and they're really ***** on the baggage allowance as well, only 15kg, or you pay over weight charges. BEWARE!
