Hi all,

Wondering if anyone can help... I'm going to be relocating in to Reading in a few months and will be working in Bracknell and will be based at the Business Park near Cain Road (RG12). I don't really no much about Reading (as I guess anyone would moving to a new area), can anyone give any recommendations on descent areas to find a house share while taking into account distances to and from Cain Road ?

All info appreciated...

Hiya!
Is it definitely Reading you want to move to and not closer to Bracknell? I personally would not live in Bracknell (although for the most part, it is ok, I just prefer Reading). Wokingham is also close but another place I do not like. Reading itself is very built up at the centre and like most places has its good and bad spots. If it is Reading you are after, then I would suggest Woodley as an area to focus on. It has a large shopping precinct, good primary schools and a secondary school. It has easy access into Reading town centre either by (very regular) bus or car, you can be in town in under 10 minutes. It also has easy access to the A329 which takes you into Bracknell in about 15-20 mins dependant on traffic which can be busy at rush hour.
You are looking at around 250,000-300,000 for a decent size family home and 150,000-175,000 for a 1 bedroom place. If it is family housing you are after, then Woodley Airfield has some nice properties that are reasonably priced and in a nice area.
If you are looking at the other side of Bracknell, then please bear in mind that you are moving closer to London and prices will be considerably higher. I have had personal experience of living in Reading and I hope I have helped. If you need any further advice, I am on most days and will keep an eye on this thread. Good luck x x
firstly let me comiserate with you

anyway, you dont mention if you have a car, or are relying on public transport to get you to bracknell.

also, how old are you? I ask because do you want a yound studently area? Or suburban housewife area?

Hi, thanks to you both for replying, I guess I am classed as a single young professional (26) so I will be looking to rent in a house share for the first six months of my stay there... I have a car but would'nt really mind just using public transport to get to Cain Road... thanks for your help...
there are loads of flat shares in central reading 9town centre) i personally think east reading is good for a young person 9university/cemetary junction area) becaus ethere is a diverse community there and always seems to be a lot going on.

Tilehurst area isnt so good for public transport links and is where all the old people live
Whitley (south reading) has a "reputation" of being the most deprived area
