I'm going to be in Crete around mid October. Does anyone know where the best place is to view the Bearded Vultures?

Well, I don't know about the best place, but we saw one in the hills behind Koutouloufari a couple of weeks ago. Very impressive it was too! Good luck.

I didn't realise they were so talented. Thanks for the tip ;o)

I've just been reading a guide book on Crete and it turns out they've only got 4 Bearded Vultures. Looks like I might have to settle for Griffon Vultures instead :o(
