Hi, i will be travelling around Europe for 10 days from mid august to end of august and i was wondering if i needed any vaccinations if i decide to camp. I would be camping in a registered campsite but am mostly worried about ticks. I am also prone to mosquito bites, i am covered in them at the moment and thats just from england, they just love me!!! Anyone have any advice/experience

Mozzie bites - Try taking Vitamin B tablets, 1 or 2 a day. It won't do you any harm and my practice nurse put me on to them a few years ago and I've never been bitten on holiday since. I start taking them about a week before going on hols.

Vaccinations - You don't need anything, but I would recommend you make sure your Tetanus jab is up to date. Everyone should really do this whether on holiday or at home.
It depends where in Europe - there are areas where ticks carry things like Lymes disease and tick borne encephalitis

You are going abroad - are you deranged ? All foreign places are extremely dangerous and foreigners more so. Hide in your bathroom instead and you should be safe. Seriously though, you are no more at risk of anything elsewhere within Europe than you are at home. If you live in Britain then you will very possibly reduce the risk of coming to harm by leaving for a while (don't take a knife with you for protection).
Try taking a citranella candle too, light it when you're eating al fresco, it does the trick for me. JD
It depends where, in Europe. If you intend camping in the former eastern bloc countries you should be very wary of ticks and water-borne infections but if you are staying in western parts and not going off the beaten track, you should just need mosquito repellent and antihistamine treatment to deal with any insect nips.
