I have recently heard that you shouldn't use the Grey Hound buses around Atlanta and Orlando as they are dangerous to travel on. Is this true? I thought it was the main way to get around.

they're kind of downmarket (if you have money you drive a car), but I've not heard of them being dangerous. I suppose you could bump into the odd nutter on them, but people I know who've done it say it's an interesting way to see the country.

However you sometimes have to be careful of the area around the terminals; they aren't always in nice parts of town, and youmight prefer to take a cab to and from if that's the case.
Hi,
Can confirm jno's answer, the buses themselves are ok,but the Downtown bus terminals are quite often in "iffy" areas of town.Best bet is to try and avoid arriving anywhere late at night.Have not used Greyhound in the areas you mention, but have often used them in the New York-WashingtonDC corridor and found them an enjoyable way of seeing the districts and countryside,(not much of that in the NY area though).
Regards
Hmmm, perhaps the train (Amtrak) would be a better option. This is a most unusual occurence for Canada.
Even in the US,Ive never heard of attacks ON the bus, only in and around the bus depots.I'd still prefer Greyhound anywhere than even a short trip on a London night bus, though.Post back after your trip and tell us how it went.Regards
