What vaccines to dogs need to travel? I am departing Taiwan, and flying to Canada, with an 18 hour layover in Los Angeles. Also, I don't know what to do with the dog during the layover in L.A. and have been told that there are no facilities in the airport. If you have any suggestions, that would be appreciated.

On your first question, please see the following website on importing dogs into Canada - it seems that unless Taiwan is rabies-free the dog will need vaccination against that disease. On your second point, won't the dog be travelling in the hold? If so, and if you've booked a through ticket, won't it be the airline's responsibility to look after your pet during the stopover in LA? (Otherwise, you'll also have to consider the regulations about importing pets into the USA.)
