Cabin baggage allowances

The little trolley bag that I normally use for my cabin baggage is slightly bigger than the allowance for my upcoming flight with Britania airways. Will this be a problem or are they quite reasonable about this? The bag is fine for other airlines but just a couple of cm too big for Britannnia, what would happen if they decided it was too big when I arrive at the airport. My concern is that I need a suitable bag to take my camera equipment in the cabin. Thank you.

If they deem it too big they will make you put it in the hold. If it is only one or two bits that must stay with you maybe if they deem it too big you could just carry the camera onboard.

My friend had trouble with that in August. She said it measured just too big (I though it looked miles too big) and it was almost double the weight it should have been but even though it had her asthma inhaler and nebulizer in, she wasn't allowed to carry it on board. It had to go in the hold. And we were lucky we didn't have to pay excess baggage. Don't let this happen to your camera, take a smaller bag, it isn't worth taking the risk.

With respect, it is people bringing oversize items onboard who clog up all the available locker space. What gives anyone the right to break the rules that everyone else is happy to follow?

I wouldn't mind but I have searched high and low to find a trolley bag that is the correct dimensions! A lot of bags say "cabin size" on the label but different airlines have different restrictions and if you measure them many are too big!
