Late Sept in Italy recommendations

Got a 1year old and wanted to catch some late summer sun in Italy over a long weekend.

I'm guessing the South of the country is better for this, anyone got any ideas for us?

sorrento mid september was very hot from what i recall.

Blue skies and temps into 80s.

Lots of places to visit nearby or just laze around the pool.

i stayed here and also know of a few friends that have stayed at same place (it was recommended to us) and even got married there.

We were in Italy last September and travelled down the Med coast and everywhere was very hot and sunny.
