Extra special weekend away advice please.

I am V soon hittimng a landmark birthday -dont want a fuss but since my husband hasnt even checked to see if he;s home that weekend I can seond guess nothing at all had been planned.

When I said no fuss i meant -a tinsy bit.

Anyway -I am now going away for that weekend -I have tried to convince him that you can even to Thailand in 4 days -dont think he's buying that but I really fancy NY.

It would be a 4 day trip -we cant afford the time off both our jobs -what do you all think -what can we cram into really 3days in NYC?We wouldnt sleep if it meant cramming everything in lol

Any other suggestions but not Europe cos its special and I have done Europe loads.

I am posting this on the fly as I know he is gonna come in tonight and book something whilst I watch the X-Factor and I would like a bit of input.

Four days is fine in NY: Rockefeller Center, Staten Island ferry, Metropolitan Museum, Ground Zero, Central Park, night at a Broadway play/musical (cheap tickets from booth in Times Sq or South St Seaport), great delis and restaurants, and of course loads of cheap shopping everywhere.

Also Europe is full of undiscovered places, many with no-frills flights, so don't write it off.

hi dris, i'm 40 in dec and wanted to go to nyc but it was too expensive!! so i'm going to london for 4 days staying in nice hotel, seeing a show, going on the london eye and whatever else takes my fancy!!! it was'nt so expensive (�600) for 2 of us including hotel,show,london eye, and travel!! not bad really.

Thanks all -I went out last night.

I phoned a friend -lol -who is always getting bargains and her husband is going to get us a nice break for some time in November in -da ra da ra -Dubai as they have been there twice and they said it was very do-able for say 4 nights.

NYC is very expensive for acomodation apparently for a short term so another time perhaps -i'll let you know what happens xxxx
