Exchange rate - cheaper at the airports?

Am going to USA in a couple of weeks. Are the exchange rates (� to $ obviously) usually better at the airports than they are in the High Street?

No on the contrary, they are much worse.
People who buy their money at the airports HAVE to buy it and so the firms can use whatever rate they like.

Looks like your best bet may be to buy online and collect at the airport depending on where you are flying from. I have used on line currency services before and have had no problems.

4get - M&S and the PO often look like a good deal as they don't charge commission, but they usually dont have the best rate. One of the best on the high street are one of those cheque cashing places (cash convertors?). It obviously depends on how much you are buying as to whether it really makes that much difference.

I found when in France this year, that I actually got a much better rate just taking cash out of the cash machine and my card did not charge much for it either.
