Just in case you're confused by his/her reference to an ocean (when you've probably seen loads of documentaries showing people apparently travelling over 'land' to get to the North Pole), it should be pointed out that the ocean is frozen (to a considerable depth) on the surface.
i.e.unlike the South Pole (which is located on land covered by ice) the North Pole is located in an ocean covered by ice.

Apart from the tip of an outlying island, Iceland is south of the Arctic Circle. The Arctic Circle is many hours' flying time south of the North Pole which is at its centre. The territories that are within the Arctic Circle belong to Greenland (Denmark), Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, the USA and Canada.
