Do I still need to apply for a visa to get into USA now?

Getting a visa will take you time - you physically have to go to the embassy for an interview - and lots of money.

There's plenty of other countries that welcome visitors.

You've admitted here for the world to see that you entered the US illegally by giving a false answer to Question B on I94-W (Have you ever been arrested...): if they read this they'll have your name on their computer and next time you'll get stopped at immigration and arrested.

Moog,the visa waiver programme isn't open to people who have been arrested.
The i94w form does not ask if you've just been arrested. It asks if you've been arrested through controlled substance or had a prison sentence for more than 5 years.
