Hi , Thinking of going to Egypt in April , do you need any jabs or a visa ??

i went to egypt around 3 years ago. i did have some jabs done at my normal doctors surgery though i dont remember which ones. also i know people who have been without and have been fine. also we did need a vise but you get them at the airport their end, and cost the equivilent of around �10 though it may be more now since the pound is weak at the mo

You can visit certain resorts without a visa but you generally need one. From the website of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office:

you should be given a little green form on the plane, usually with no explanation (I was). Fill it in and keep with your passport - it's the visa. The man at passport control will give you a stamp - an actual letter-style stamp - to put on it, and will rubberstamp your passport.

You don't need jabs but they're advisable

As others have said, both times I have been I got the visa at Luxor airport, as did everyone else I travelled with.

Again, whilst jabs were not compulsary, it made me feel better knowing I had had them - hygiene is not high on the list of priorities in Egypt. Apparently, they keep their money in their pants... see the state of the notes and you will see what I mean - take some antibacterial hand gel.

I completely loved Egypt though and wouldn't hesitate to go again given the change, have a good time!

Generally cheaper to get them when you arrive, though you may have to queue with others doing the same.

You don't need jabs if you're just in tourist areas. Stick to bottled water and be careful about food (eat fruit you peel, avoid salads etc).

We are going in 4 weeks and have been advised to have Polio, Tetanus and Typhoid for our own safety. In fact we are going on Monday for them !
