Anyone know of any decent, clean New York hostels??

Hello All

We are flying to New York in June on the first leg of a 'round the world' flight. I know June is high season in New York but does anyone know of or who has stayed at a clean, hospitable NY hostel?
It doesn't have to be in the thick of things but ideally I would like to stay in Manhattan, I'm not into staying in a dorm so a private room as much as possible. Basically I just want some pointers in the right direction as horror stories of bed bugs is all I seem to find.
