Hi,

What would be the easiest way using public transport to get to Alton Towers from Manchester.
None of the public transport websites give any clear information and I'm getting rather frustrated.

Please HELP!!

You will be hard pushed to get exactly to Alton Towers using public transport. It's in the middle of nowhere.

check with the train line as there was an offer a while back which included train, bus and park ticket
As others have said, Alton Towers is totally in the middle of the countryside with almost nothing except the small village of Alton nearby.

In fact I have always thought it is a TERRIBLE place for a theme park.

No motorways nearby, no train station and so on.

I live in Birmingham and even though it is not far from us it is still a terrible place to get to for us, even by car.

It is right between the M6 on the West and M1 on the East, so neither of them are any help, so we have to go up the middle via a complex zig zag route.

In fact we have given up going there and tend to go to Drayton Manor nowadays.,
Apparantly you can get a train to Stoke then a bus from outside the station to Alton Towers and back.
http://www.travelineeastmidlands.co.uk/ is a good site to use and check out your options!! I work in a tourist information centre and we regularly use this for our visitors!!

Good Luck and enjoy Alton Towers!!
