Hi, we are going to Florida in May, we decided not to go wih the hire car and to make our own way around. I'm looking for a cheap and cheerful way to get from Orlando airport to our hotel on International drive, any advice would be much appreciated, cheers all

Unless you decide to hire a car, your movements are going to be rather restricted. As 10ClarionSt advises, taxis are VERY costly and buses are few and far between. Good luck and a happy holiday with whatever you choose to do.
As as already been said hire car is a must. Also taxiwise if you are travelling to Orlando International its not to far from International Drive but if flying to Sandford which many British Charters do its around 30 miles away.
I agree. Sorry but you will regret not taking car hire! There is no cheap way to get from Sanford to International Drive. It's a fair distance!

Thanks guys, we are flying to Orlando MCO so it,s a little better. Appreciate your answers
check if your hotel offers a free shuttle, then all you need to do is call the hotel when you land and the transport should be there when you get through baggage etc.
Do you realise that the Disney complex is the size of Manchester?

and if you are on Internatoinal drive you are quite a few miles from the Disney parks?

You cany just stroll out of your hotel and walk next door to a theme park.

Public transport to the Disney parks is poor, and making your own way there is difficult.

While it is not essential to have a hire car you will find it fairly difficult to get around without one.
But phillis4 may be mainly going to the Universal parks rather than Disney, and International Drive is ideal for that. The trams are frequent, and many hotels also run shuttles to Disney. We stayed on International Drive without a car and it was fine.
I am a British student currently living in Kissimmee and try to avoid taxis where possible. They are expensive, much more so than at home. You didn't say how many people were travelling but if there are just a few of you, give Mears Transportation a go (http://www.mearstransportation.com/ShuttleServ ices.htm). I paid $20 for a one-way ticket to my accommodation back in January and a return could be booked for only a few dollars more. The majority of hotels around here will offer complimentary shuttle services to the major parks. Despite what some might say, Orlando is doable without a car.
