Cheap flights to Lviv, Ukraine?
Any tips? pointers?
Bleeding Wizz Air have just announced that they are cancelling ALL flights from Luton to Lviv, for which we'd already booked and paid. So we are having to rush around now to find alternatives which I'm finding are loads more expensive.

(I was forced to refer to Wikipedia because the Lviv Airport website is only available in Russian).
The best solution is probably to fly, with Ryanair, from Luton to Rzeszw (which is just over the border from Lviv, in Poland).
http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/
Then take the shuttle bus to the rail station:
http://www.lotnisko-rzeszow.pl/katalog/dojazd/ en/rz_dojazd.php
From there, the Thomas Cook Rail Map of Europe shows a direct line to Lviv. I've been struggling to find any useful information on the websites of either the Polish or Ukrainian Railways. (I also can't get the German Rail website, which covers the whole of Europe, to recognise 'Lviv' as a destination).
However you should be able to get the relevant information by phoning Deutsche Bahn UK, on 08718 80 80 66 (8p per minute, 0900-200 Mon-Fri. 0900-1300 Sat &Sun) or you can email them: [email protected]
Alternatively, Rail Europe might be able to assist:

There is 1 train a day from Rzeszow at 15h56, journey 6h50 (or leave at 16h53 & change at Przemysl). return train leaves at 07h18 and arrives Rzeszow at 12h58.
http://rozklad-pkp.pl/?q=en/node/143 and the Polish railway knows Lviv as "Lvov".
Or fly to Bratislava and take the overnight train from there at 14h10 (arr 10h30 the next day) - although it may not run every day. (return leaves at 10h01 and gets to Bratislava at 05h00 the next day)

Thanks Mushroom25. I've actually mentioned that alternative spelling (Lvov) in another thread on AB, but I just couldn't remember it. (My little grey cells don't seem to work as well as they used to!). Thanks for the rail information as well.
Kos:
LOT fly from Warsaw to Lviv/Lvov, with two flights daily. I've just tried some random dates in June, and was offered 162 (inc t&c) return.
easyJet currently operate from Luton to Warsaw (but only until 5 July). Wizz Air's services on that route still appear to be operating. LOT and BA fly to Warsaw from Heathrow.

Kos:
could you give a source where to find the official announcement of this cancellation?
As to other variants:
(1) combine easyjet Luton-Dortmund with wizzair Dortmund-Lviv
(2) fly Luton-Krakow or Stansted-Krakow (easyjet, ryanair, etc) and take a direct train to Lviv 9h (one per day) or
combine a train to Premysl 4h (10 per day) with taxi/bus to the border and from the border to Lviv (70km).
(3) fly Luton-Kiev and take a train to Lviv 9-10h (11 per day)
