week's break in scotland

is there one place in scotland you'd recommend us (first time visitors) staying for 7 nights, which is gorgeous in itself and within reasonable reach of most good tourist spots? A luxury hotel would be nice too.

the Trossachs.There are many luxury hotels in the area Assume you don't want Gleneagles in Perthshire but you'll have a lovely time. It's a BEAUTIFUL area
Callander and Aberfoyle are lovely areas
oban is nice, fort william, go on a trip to a scottish island if you can cos you will see there are better then scotland which is still lovely, take avon skin so soft dry oil its the only thing to keep the midges away, enjoy scotland wherever you go, i love it up there.

Thank you everybody (so far). How long does it take to fly, drive or take the train from London to Glasgow or Edinburgh?
london to edinburgh (air) one hour
london to edinburgh (train) approx 4hours
london to edinburgh(driving) approx 5-6 hours?
London-Glasgow by road is do-able in up to 7 hours if traffic is favourable.
the train takes 4hr30mn approx to either Edinburgh or Glasgow mon-fri (longer at weekends)
flights take about 1hr
Skye is amazing.
Scottish motto: 'If you don't like the weather, wait 10 minutes.' It is kind of changeable. And yes, beware midges.

Lovely country, though.
try vatersay and barra, they are lovely, and if you get the chance see the best scottish band around, the vatersay boys,
