Holidays early July

Where would be a really good place for a holiday at the beginning of the school holidays in July for a couple with an 11 year old daughter. We like warm weather with cool breezes, sightseeing, swimming, shopping but hate sunbathing! Flights need to be 3 hours or less...We'd like something relaxing but a bit out of the ordinary if possible!

You won't need a car for 2 weeks as everyone gets about the island by bike!

You could try croatia. Its not as "known" as spain, portugal, italy etc as a destination.

Has some good food, interesting architecture and history, and a variety of resorts, beach and town.
