Kinnersley Castle is about 14 miles from Hereford, so say from Hereford train station, how much would the taxi fare be to Kinnersley Castle? Ta Muchly.
Thanks NoMercy (and you've answered Craft)...NoMercy, do you have any idea of bus services on a Sunday, Hereford to Kington?...or a bus service contact number? I expect you know Kinnersley Castle is out in the countryside and I've got to try and get there and I don't drive...anyone who knows me knows why...smile...Help!
Kington is still about 6 miles from Kinnersley Castle. I have no idea re bus service as I have never been out there. I have just rung a taxi driver friend of mine who takes me to the airport once a month, and I am trying to get a quote from him. He may do you a special deal.
Taxi fares across most parts of the country (outside of London) usually work out at around 2 per mile. So, based upon that, you're looking at a fare of around 28.
To be more accurate, metered taxis in Herefordshire currently charge a minimum fare of 2.40 for the first 965 metres, then 10p for every extra 90 metres (plus various minor add-ons, such as 20p for each passenger in excess of two). Taking your figure of 14 miles as being precise, that would result in a fare of 26.40.
Hi, sorry for taking so long - probs with my comp.
Spoken to my taxi friend and he says that on an ordinary tariff, it will cost you approx 35. He will do it for 23, providing it is in the daytime and not some ridiculous hour of the night.
For Stompe(with apologies to Woodelf):
That link will (presumably) only work for people who're signed into Facebook (which I wouldn't touch with a bargepole). It only takes me to the Facebook registration page, so I haven't got a clue what you're on about.
For Woodelf:
Sorry, but the service 461 bus (which goes from Hereford to Kington, via Sarnesfield) only runs from Monday to Saturday. According to the Traveline West Midlands site, there are no other public transport options on a Sunday.
Great!...Many Thanks Again NoMercy. It wouldn't be till August and on a Sunday and I would need to be at Kinnersley Castle for 2 pm and there would be two passengers. How would I contact your friend...nearer the time I guess would be best? If you don't want to give out your friend's info, then have a look at my website in the Arts and Lit section of AB and my email is there.
