Canadian Dollars?
Are they legal tender in the USA ? I'm going to Canada
via Detroit soon, and will need some ready cash when I
get to Detroit. Any one know? Cheers.!

Yes, they are... at the exchange rate of one U.S. dollar equals about .86 cents Canadian (or a Canadian dollar is worth 86% of a U.S. Dollar). . .

Keep in mind that the lowest Canadian bank note is $5. The Americans will not accept the Canadian $1 and $2 coins.
I really doubt they are legal tender. Sure, some shops in towns much frequented by US visitors will take them (at an unexciting exchange rate), but others won't.

They will be easy enough to change though.

While those establishments who come into contact with people holding Canadian dollars, and may therefore accept them at their choice of exchange rate, only the US dollar is the currency that is officially recognised as money and generally must be accepted as payment in the US (legal tender in American parlance).
