Hi barb,
I asked the same thing on Answerbank recently as my wife and I like quiet places that we can explore at our leisure by foot or hire car. We are usually up at 6am and out all day after which we like a good meal in a quiet restaurant and we have usually collapsed into bed by 10pm. We don't drink and we don't like bars, karaoke or this club culture.
We have always wanted to explore Ibiza as the photographs show beautiful coastlines, mountains and villages. Until now however, we have always been put off by those awful scenes you see of vast numbers of drunks (invariably British youngsters including girls) staggering out of bars and clubs at 5am. What horrible sights and what a waste of young lives. I think the trouble is that British kids don't have anything else now. Their lives are empty of happiness and hope and that's their idea of "having a good time".
My question on here was answered a few weeks ago my a British lady who now lives on Ibiza. She said the club scene is only running for a few weeks in the middle of the summer and the island is quiet until about late June and then again after the middle of September. On the strength of her answer we are going to spend a week there in October or November. Ibiza is apparently quiet and pleasant at that time of year so you will probably enjoy it then too. We might even see you there! Hope that helps and have fun.
