canadian taxis and buses

Hi,
Am going to Ontario to vist relatives soon,does anybody have any ideas of the price of public transport (buses, trains, taxi etc) as I do want to keep some independence whilst out there

If its Toronto you can buy subway/bus/trolleycar tokens for $2.75 a trip. Multiples are even cheaper.

If you want to save money getting into to downtown from Toronto Pearson airport catch the 192 Rocket to Kipling and you then simply walk onto the subway there and get all the way into town for $2.75 one way.

The airport bus costs about $16 and a taxi $50.

There is not much other public transport in Ontario but taxis are ok as long as its just a couple of miles.

good question Stewey, I thought I try and research myself rather than be a pain in a** to people I don't really know that well - usual bdays and xmas cards correspondence

Ok.....I can see that: I guess if I was going somewhere different I'd want to do a little research first. Anyway, Stoney Creek is close to Hamilton, and there is system of trains and buses (called GO transit) which operates along the shore of Lake Ontario between Hamilton and a place called Oshawa, with Toronto pretty much in the centre. To get to Toronto you would take a GO bus to a place called Agincourt, and then you would take the GO train to downtown Toronto. When you get off the train you take the TTC, as David Black already suggested. Have a good time, and let us know how it was.

You can fly to Hamilton cheaply using Globespan. Not nearly as good as it was before the economic crash but just fine and not Air Canada who are pretty bad.

Air Canada, three flights on one trip lost my bags three times plus on another occasion "Ate" my brand new bag on a trip from Vancouver.

You can't avoid Air Canada but you can stay calm! Westjet on the other hand are great.
