I have never travelled to Belfast before but there may be an opportunity for me to move there in roughly a years time due to work placement, I would be interested to find out about the city. Which parts are rough? Are the people there generally nice? Does anybody here live in belfast and can offer me advice, or perhaps has travelled there?
This is a preliminary investigation into the city and I will most likely fly there for a few days to see what my first hand impression of it is.

There are a few here from Belfast and the North. You might have to repeat this question in other topics...ie chatterbank so they might see it. If they don't venture into travel you question might be missed.

Anyway...my mate travels to Belfast alot with work and absolutely loves it.
I live on the outskirts so could give you advice on the technicalities, how to get here and there etc, but as I might be a bit biased on whether or not it is a nice place to live, I will leave that to others who aren't from there
Is there specific info that you are after filthiestfis?

Belfast has been going through a huge transformation over the last number of years.. In my opinion, it now has a great range of hotels, bars, clubs, restaurants, shops etc I would be suprised if you didn't find the majority of people in Belfast (and Ireland in general) pretty friendly and helpful. There are many truely beautiful places to visit (Mournes, Antrim Coast etc) and many of the big shows, musicians and concerts etc now have Belfast dates on their tours.
