Travel Insurance
I am having a very short holiday in June in Austria, travelling by coach to Stanstead & then flying to Salzburg, would like help on the best & least expensive insurance cover. I shall possibly go in the very early hours of a Wednesday morning & return on the Saturday taking only hand luggage.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.it's probably worth using a comparison website - the one with the demented Greek or the one with the Italian opera singer would do - they won't necessarily give you every insurance company but you should get a wide choice. If you lose something on holiday it's quite often better to claim for it under your household insurance.
First of all, remember to take your European Health Insurance Card with you and (importantly) keep it with you. If you break your leg you'll get free outpatient treatment at a state hospital or, if they keep you in, you'll only pay the same daily rate that Austrians pay. If you don't take your EHIC (or if you leave it in the hotel) you'll have to pay the full charges (which your insurer might refuse to refund as you should have used your EHIC).

Just a reminder about the European Health Insurance I had forgotton that they are only valid for three years. it wasn't until we came home from holiday at the beginning of the month that I realised the Health Insurance had expired three weeks previously. I will have to renew it before we go off again.
