Liquids in a bag (can`t remember dimensions but something like 8" x 7".) Max one litre total. Individual items no more than 100ml. You can buy a set of three re-useable hard wearing bags in M&S and the middle sized one is suitable for carry-on.
Max size for liquids in hand luggage is 100mls and you can only take 5 items in your little sealed plastic bag. We couldn't take drinks through the security check at all, you have to buy the water etc again the other side. I carry my prescription meds with me, in the box which has my name on, just in case of query.
I hope that you'll be buying your bottled water AFTER the security checks, Fruitsalad. If you try to take any liquids though security (over 100ml) they'll be confiscated:

remember to take a copy of your repeat prescription with your medication as some countries require a doctors letter for a months supply of meds but have always accepted the repeat prescription form as proof that all the meds carried are for you.
Never put in your luggage, what would happen if your case gets lost ?
