I forgot to say, its for my honeymoon so a 3/4 star hotel would be good.
the only one i know is the Pennsylvania. Superbly located in midtown right opposite Penn Station and Madison Sq Gdn. Two blocks from Empire St Building, Macy's etc. One of NYC's biggest hotels. The room i got was very basic and i wouldn't have liked to take my new wife there BUT i went for the cheapest available and i'm sure they have more expensive rooms. I have always found hotels.com to be very good.

The Waldorf=Astoria starts at about 160 per night for a very good basic room.  Because it's your honeymoon, they may very well upgrade you as well.

It is very central to all of the main sights and shops, and close to the relatively cheap bars and restaurants on 2nd Avenue.  If the weather is dry, you will be able to walk practically everywhere.

There is also a subway station at the back door, which will take you down the the financial district, Chinatown, SoHo, Little Italy, Nolita, etc. in 15 minutes for 1.

BA Holidays offer it in their latest brochure.

Enjoy NYC - it's brilliant!

I stayed at the Radisson Lexington on Lexington Avenue - was very nice and very central - walked everywhere and only got a taxi once down to ground zero. Wasn't massively expensive as i recall, have fun i LOVE new york!
