is a list of Premier Travel Lodge Hotels. The nearest to Islington seems to be the King's Cross one, which has rooms from £69.00(per room) per night:~

I have also checked Travelodge's site(nothing to do with Premier) but their 3 hotels near Islington(but not nearer than Premier's) are about £89.00 per night.
According to the AA Route Planner, the Premier hotel is 1.1 miles from Islington, but of course the name Islington covers a wide area of London,so where you are going may be further(but not that much further).

Apologies, trying some reservations on the Premier Site, they seem to increase the further you get into Spring/Summer.
Maybe looking at the Travelodge site might be better?

(2-part post):
I've been looking at the Borough of Islington website. It lists hotels here
http://www.islington....ommodation/Hotels.asp
and B&Bs here:

The Aber Hotel seems to have reasonable reviews:

but avoid Charlie's Hotel!

The Europa House Hotel has some excellent reviews and some lousy ones:

The Kandara Guesthouse might be my own choice:

However, given that you're right next door to King's Cross (which probably has more hotels than any other part of London) it might be easier to look there. To find budget accommodation there (and elsewhere in London), try this website:
http://www.hostelworld.com/
Don't be put off by the word 'hostel' within that URL. Simply carry out an initial search, then use 'Refine search' to select 'Hotels' and 'Guesthouses' (together with your preferred districts) and click 'Update'. You'll find loads of reviews to guide you.

I've stayed in the Jury's Inn and the Hilton in Islington. Both are OK although I'm not sure the Hilton qualifies as "reasonably priced". The Jury's Inn would probably do you fine:

If you read the link carefully you'll see that 'Passing bad checks (where intent to defraud not required)' is listed under 'Crimes against property which do NOT fall within the definition of moral turpitude':

(PS: I've never had one of my cheques bounce)
