I was recently in the Black Sea area and visited Novorossisk in Russia, Odessa in the Ukraine, Constanta in Romania and Varna in Bulgaria.  It seems that the further west you go within the ex-Soviet Union, the more westernised the countries have become.  Bulgaria being furthest west, along with Romania, was suited more to western tastes than the Ukraine or Russia.  The whole of Europe is steeped in history and Bulgaria certainly isn't left out in that respect.  It was a nice place and your British money goes a long long way.

I've been twice to Pamporovo skiing, and thought it was great.  Things are very cheap, and the food is a little different, but all in all I found Bulgaria very enjoyable.
I went to Elenite in May '03 and found the place pretty boring. Did a couple of trips but again there was nothing to write home about. It may have changed since then but I wasn't impressed at all.
i went last year to sunny beach for a week and it was brilliant. going back in ten weeks for a fortnight and my mate is going for his honeymoon the same time
