does anyone object to paying single supplements on holidays, i do, make your point known to john penrose, minister of tourism.

He hasn't got much to do with it, unless you're talking about holidays in Britain. If you book a hotel room abroad you're usually charged per room rather than per person. If you're on your own you've got nobody to split the cost with.

However some places and some operators from time to time do do away with single supplements, presumably because the choice they face is selling the room cheaply or not selling it at all.
