If you're planning on hiring a car, the answer is definitely 'No'. The plastic card, with a photograph, is the actual licence; the paper counterpart won't be accepted by any hire companies.
If you're taking your own car, the official answer is still 'No' but , unless you get stopped for a traffic violation (or because you've been involved in an accident) it's very unlikely that anyone would ask to see the licence. (It's probably more important to ensure that you're carrying compulsory items, such as a hi-vis jacket and reflective warning triangle).
