I believe they were more cramped and much more expensive.
I heard that too - only 2 seats each side, and quite tinny.

But was the cruising altitude and the speed noticeable compared to other flights?
Looked after and did some minor stuff on one at Brize around 1991 or 2.
It is much smaller in fuselage areas .. like an exec jet. No quieter to be honest.
Things go very quiet inside supersonic .. even in smaller military jets. Like just low-pitched hiss, really.
I've been in one....not to fly. It was amazingly small.....not like a typical passenger plane.
There's no sensation of the speed when at altitude Dave.
I had a first back seat jolly in a Phantom in Malta in 1977. Mach2. Even that was quiet. Slowing down was best described as hitting a brick wall. Unbelievable.
Mum and Dad used to fly Concorde to NY. They were given nice little stainless steel knives and forks. I've still got them.
Meant still got the knives and forks!!

What an amazing craft are there any plans to build a newer version?
Look after them Meg.
They are collectable now.
I don't think any company can afford to build a supersonic cruiser any more Dave. Partly cost of deleoping, partly operating and fuel costs.
The prototypes you see are just dreams.

Albags what is happening with these people? We once went to the moon and flew supersonic and we never will again? We seem to be going backwards...or Im still hungover.
Dad used to collect anything and everthing, said they would be worth a lot of money in a few years. We have plagues for him flying so many miles with BOAC probably in the 50's.
Where did all the money and spirit in achievement go?
Energy conservation issues and global warming must both be partly to blame, along with global recession.
