Australia stuff to do
Im lucky enough to be going to oz over new years, we'll be staying on the east coast, Port douglas, brisbane, Going to Ayres Rock and then Sydney...
Obviously we'll go to the zoo, sky dive, scuba on the barrier reef and have booked fab tours at Ayres rock and to climb Sydney bridge.... but was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions of things to do/see that you don't usually find in you bog standard travel brochures....??

yes indeed take the cable car at kuranda and if possible the steam trian up near Cairns. Ayres rock is a great place but worth heading into alice springs also. when in sydney do the usual opera house bridge etc but its also worthheading out to the Blue Mountains for a day they are amazing. Enjoy its a fabulous country. Oh an dport douglas is relatively quiet but nice do head into Cairns from there
Please call "ayer's rock" by its proper name: Uluru and don't walk on it - the original inhabitants will appreciate it. Buy a didjeridu ("Yidaki") and learn some basics as you go along :-) You can then bring back something truely special - some mastery of one of the oldest musical instruments inthe world.
