Have been looking on Teletext website at some late offers to the Canaries and some of them seem really cheap. Has anyone booked a teletext hol before and was it a good experience? Did the destination live up to the review on TT?

Usually they put on extras as all high st travel agents do as well , fuel supplements , under occupancy ( if not enough in the room / rooms ) , baggage charges , and sometimes transfers ( from airport to your hotel , check all when looking / booking
Do a search for the accommodation on tripadvisor for unbiased reviews. Most holidays are available through many different channels, you may well be buying a "thomas cook" holiday through teletext, so it is not strictly a teletext holiday
Generally lousy reviews here:

Looks like you get what you pay for with these ones.
I have been trying to book a reasonable priced holiday, and have spent hours searching the web, including Teletext Holidays. After lots of checking, hanging on the phone for a good while, I was then able to speak to someone who told me that the price would be a lot more than the quoted price, because of the added extras, and the flights were absolutely awful times. Had this info been on the web page, I could have saved myself the bother. We have concluded that ALL holidays are expensive at the moment but would never book a hotel without reading up a review on Trip Advisor.
Find a holiday on Teletext, take down all the details go to the travel agents show then and nine times out of ten they will better it. Even the big travel agents. done this many times
