ankou, you would have a big shock then after 20years, as its one heck of a filthy country. theres small pockets of wealthy suburbs, but everywhere seems to be tainted with absolute filth, serious dirt. not to mention my girlfriends hotel(flea ridden)

nextqueen, they love the british, looks like they now prefer the germans now. most of the tv channels are either in german or have german subtitles. having said that, thanx to the mainly german tourist most restaurants serve huge portions. you have to see it to beleive it
I love it in Malta..........people really friendly and yes, they love the British alot....still grateful for what we did during WW2, which is a bit odd considering that if we were'nt there, their island would'nt have got such a battering, and it won them the George Cross.

You gotta know where to go to dine, party etc and which beaches to go too when there, i'm there a lot playing gigs and the youngsters are just great....just full of life and get up and go, and just wanna party and dance. No trouble in all the years i've been going.

Generally clean enough and not half as bad as some of the really filthy and disgusting places, not just in Europe, but all over the world.

Food great....never had food poisoning or jippy tummy........drink cold and plentiful.....still moderately inexpensive and service always with a smile. I like it there. :0)
im assuming you didnt. enjoy your holiday piggy ?
LOL.......piggynose............sounds like the hotel from hell....all islands/ countries have them, but you get what you pay for and some hoteliers are less hygenic than others, which is always the case.

Suggest you and g/f dont go back to Malta, matey :0)

LOL... anneasquith too :0)

sorry yogi, but you must travel in style, as its a sh1thole, 1 big sh1thole. how i havent got sick i´ll never know. yes the foods quite good. the only bright spot was the blue grotto, but every trip you undertake you just cant avoid filth. and i´ve travelled the world inc asia.
you continue going, its all yrs, ive had it up to here.
Sounds like you had a really bad experience there, piggynose.......:0(

Cant blame you for feeling somewhat ticked off at all.

Hope you find somewhere nice later in the year/ next year. :0)
I love it and would move there if I could. The best place is around the south of the island, Pretty Bay, quieter than most places and good places to eat. Been online today looking for my next trip. Its like marmite - love it or hate it!
Malta is place that you will either love or hate!........I love it, the people are friendly, the weather is warm, the scenery is great, it's just so full of character! like going back 50 years, I really enjoy the bus rides! those old buses.................great!.........

Depends where you stay really, Bugibba and surrounding area, not good, St Julians, is lovely!............
probably depends on your hotel too. What did Tripadvisor have to say about it? (Bearing in mind that hoteliers are planning to sue Tripadvisor for running allegedly fake reviews).
Yes jno, if you buy a cheap deal, then you're going to get a run down hotel!.........sadly there are lots of them in Malta, but there are also some really good ones too!.......you just need to do your research............I've had some really lovely hols there.................a trip to Gozo is awesome too!...............
My long gone in laws retired out there in 1969 and had 25 years there. We used to go over for holidays and love the island.
The drivers over there are completely mad mind you and on every roundabout it's every man for himself. They don't take prisoners.
Yes chrissa, they are crazy!...........so funny!.......we took friends there a few years ago!..........they wer petrified!................lol................
Agree 100% about chrissa's comment on the driving there......double white stop lines are just decoration for the locals....they just keep on going.....lol.....you have to have a seventh sense to drive there and treat all other road users as complete idiots, then you'll get by.
I've driven there for many many years now and, touch wood, no accidents, but boy, have i seen some crackers.

Agree also that Gozo island has it's own special charm and should be visiited when there, as should Comino, but not at the weekend as it is heavng with people.
Last time I went they were talking about bringing in new health and safety rules for the buses, which would mean 90% of them would be taken off the road! I learnt to drive in London, so the driving there holds no fears, just drive like a black cab driver, and go for it - if you hesitate you are b*ggered.
Little bit offensive to someone of Maltese descent there piggy.
Malta is an amazing little country, with a history to be proud of, and with the most welcoming and nice inhabitants. I love it over there!
