Welcome to U.S.!
We were in LA for 3 days (part of a longer holiday) and wouldn't have missed Hollywood as AllYourBase describes, Farmers Market, Sunset Strip amd a half day in Universal Studios.
Go to Hollywood Blvd 1st and go to Manns Chinese Theatre, at the left hand side you will see boothes that cater for LA trips. That's the way we did it. They were OK value

&Sorry, something weird happend to my key board. As I was saying they were ok value, but are worth it if you have a limited amount of time rather than finding your own way about.
I wouldn't bother with Rodeo Drive, it is pretty & nice to see the posh shops, but you won't go home cheated of anything if you don't go.
Enjoy your trip.
