Visas for migration

I'm currently looking into migrating to Australia with my husband. We would like to use an accredited migration company to help  us as it can be a complex process, but the one company we've tried so far charges about 1800 + vat... as bad as the fees you pay for the visa application in itself ($2000 AUSD).

Does any one know of an accredited bureau with less charges/ or can recommend a way of making sense of all the forms and requirements/skills test etc?

If you are going into guaranteed employment i.e you or your partner have been offered a job then usually the company will clear all the migration details for you and also absorb the legal costs. I had a firm job offer in NZ and they took care of all the necessary applications and forms without paying a penny.

we both have recognised skills, but getting a firm job offer is hard in the areas we work. Luckily my husband's sister is resident so we can be sponsored quite easily but the rigmerole is a bit long winded.
I would suggest applying for a working holiday, about 35-40 which entitles you to one years residence in Oz. It will allow you to look and secure a job whilst you are there ( beneficial for interviews etc.). All you need to do is apply to the embassy for a working holiday scheme, this can be done on line, you will then receive an application pack which you and your husband must complete and return indicating that you are both travelling together.
Gotta be 30 years old or less to qualify for a Working Holiday Visa to oz (which, of course, you could well be - just thought i'd point it out).

I'm a sprightly 26 but my old man is 35 (lucky geezer you might think)... don't think he'd be able to work if we both went.
