Hi everyone,
The wife and myself are supposed to be flying out to Koh Samui in Thailand for 2 weeks from this sunday. However, There has been flooding there and 2 weeks ago was declared a disaster zone. The weather forecast for the next 10 days is not great either, with rain and clouds. Does anyone know if the floods have gone and if it has left the area in a bad state?
Our flight is to Bangkok and then we have a seperate flight to Koh Samui. We havent paid for a hotel yet, so we are thinking of going to Pattaya instead which is only a couple of hours on the bus from Bangkok. The weather is supposed to be nice there.
We have never been to thailand before so would like any advise as what to do? What would you do?
Thanks.
From the Foreign Office website:
Six British nationals have been murdered in Thailand since January 2009.
There have been violent assaults and robberies in Chaweng, Koh Samui. These attacks have occurred in places frequented by western tourists. Take great care when in this area, especially at night.
I went to Bangkok...booked a hotel when I got there, about 5 mins walk from the Khao San Road. Got a flight to Phuket....Took a bus to Karon....from there went to PhiPhi...then to Krabi...back to Bangkok.
Brilliant place...brilliant holiday. It's cheap to change your travel arrangements. We stayed in Phi Phi for £2.50 a night.
