I know, I know ... I can just Google this, and get the official figures.

But ... has anyone actually been there at Easter? Someone who could tell me what the stats actually mean?

For instance ... can you sunbathe round the pool?

I'm thinking of taking the OH there for a few days gambling, maybe around the middle of April.

probably not sunbathing temp yet, take sweater for pms, warm enough usually for no coat...but still can be wet

I'm not liking the possibility of "wet" !

I'm looking for ...

Poolside all day, casino all night ... and NO rain !
If you are looking at Algarve or west coast .. no chance... too early you are on the Atlantic remember...rolling mists and fog quite common

Hmm ... yes, I was ... both, actually.

I was thinking of a couple of nights in Estoril, and a couple of nights in Vilamoura.
Should be nice break though..watch out for the ubiquitous German !!!
what about the canaries? pretty much the only european break at Easter which is (more of less) guaranteed decent weather.

... and Dutch !

Do any of the Canary Islands have a good Casino?

I'll have a quick Google ...!
friends of mine have just landed IN BRISBANE !!!!!????? can't get to their planned destination because of the floods.......what a waste of time and money....I did advise them to try and cancel, but I do not think they realised it was all so close to them !!

Ooh, yes ... there are !
Easter's very late this year - combine your trip with royal wedding day and May BH. Booldawg's right, Canaries (or maybe Egypt) are the nearest guaranteed warmth and dryness; Estoril's more like mild-to-warm.

Thanks, jno ...

"mild-to-warm" is not really doing it for me.

"early summer heat" is more what I had in mind.

But ... the Casino at Estoril is a big draw.

Maybe I'll do the same thing, but a bit further into the summer.
By april the temperatures are still cold. The best time to go is in fact (beggining of Jully). Jully is the beggining of the summer and people feel more warm in the jully as temperatures are likely to reach 38/40. Sometimes in august the temperatures reach 45. It is a very good place to spend a nice holidays. I lived there all my life. I am portuguese myself and i would advise you to go to Lisbon for gambling (estoril casino, and expo 98 casino) This last one was buit in 2001 if i am not mistaken as is right in the centre of LIsbon (Inside Expo 1998)
regards
