Business travellers 'want home from home hotels'

16:36 Mon 24th May 2010 |

Many people who go on long business trips often struggle with the lows of being away from their home comforts. Going to sleep in a different hotel room for a few nights can be difficult to cope with for a number of reasons, such as disorientation, lack of sleep and not to mention missing the family.

Business travellers look for hotels which are a "home from home", it has been suggested by a leading hotel organisation, to give them the comfort they need when away for extended periods of time.

These types of visitors may choose alternatives to the traditional forms of accommodation, according to LateRooms.

Most travelling businessmen often find themselves holed-up in some form of Travel Lodge or Premier Inn, and while these places offer great services and accommodation, many of those who are away for long periods of time crave something a little closer to home.

Apartments and small independent properties are among the types of lodgings those on commercial trips can turn to.

"Something different" is offered by these dwellings, said head of marketing at the firm Jessica Reading.

It may be different in terms of what stabdard hotels may offer, it gives the person staying something that reminds them of home.

"There are a lot more serviced apartments being set up. People may prefer serviced apartments because they offer flexibility," she commented.

Research conducted by the company in 2009 suggested these add-ons may be purchased to distract businessmen from what they miss about home.

These lodges can be furnished with plush sofas, flat screen TV's and large comfortable beds - all things that would find their way into most people's homes.

A total of 90 per cent revealed they longed for their spouses, while 72 per cent said they lamented not being in their usual abode.

People who conduct this sort of travel regularly find that "home comforts" ease the "pain" of being away – 83 per cent of those polled offered this response.

Consumers who want to find out which hotels may suit their needs could have a travel Q&A with someone in the know.
